In Burst SMS, we can send an alphanumeric sender ID to an international number when the alphanumeric sender ID is supported by the carrier of the destination country.

Previously, SenderId was overridden with a shared number, Now SenderId will remain as CustomSenderId if it is supported in country destination.

What is an Alphanumeric Sender ID?

An alphanumeric sender ID is a sender ID where a combination of up to 11 numbers or letters are used in place of a virtual mobile number. You can find more information about alphanumeric sender IDs, as well as your other sender ID options, here.

What happens to messages where alphanumeric sender IDs are not supported?

For countries where alphanumeric sender IDs are not supported, the Burst SMS platform replaces the alphanumeric sender ID with a generic local number for the destination region in order to ensure your messages are delivered correctly.

 

What are Special Conditions?

Some countries may require registration of the desired alphanumeric sender ID prior to sending messages. You can find country-specific details in the Special Conditions column of the Global SMS Delivery List.

 

Example:

User sends to a list that includes mobile numbers from different countries,

• AU: SenderId availability: custom sender id, virtual number and user number

• UK: SenderId availability: custom sender id, virtual number and user number

• NZ: short code only

• USA: TFN and short code only

• India: SenderID not supported

• Indonesia: SenderID is supported

• Singapore: SenderID is supported

• Philippines: SenderID is supported

Once Campaign is sent, using a custom sender(Business Name), then it is:

• Delivered to AU: SenderId = custom sender id

• Delivered to UK: SenderId = custom sender id

• Delivered to NZ: SenderId overwritten with shared short code

• Delivered to USA: SenderId overwritten with shared number for US

• Delivered to India: SenderId overwritten with shared number for India

• Delivered to Indonesia: SenderId = custom sender id

• Delivered to Singapore: SenderId = custom sender id

• Delivered to Philippines: SenderId = custom sender id

Define a Custom Sender ID?

Many countries do not allow Mobile Numbers as Custom Sender ID so they should not be used for sending internationally.

Mobile numbers are only allowed in Australia, United Kingdom and Singapore to use domestically.
