If there is no Sender available, either select Add a new Sender ID to apply for a new Alpha Numeric Sender ID or purchase a Dedicated Virtual Number from the Senders section of your account. Custom Alphanumeric Senders Important ACMA update: To better protect consumers the ACMA will introduce a new Alphanumeric Sender ID register for businesses sending to Australia. From the 1 July 2026 unregistered traffic will be over-stamped with "Unverified" or may be blocked entirely. Read more > A Custom Alpha Numeric Sender ID is a maximum 11 character name that can be used as the Sender. This will give you a better brand experience for your text, however these cannot be replied to, which makes engagement and opt out a little more difficult. To get a Custom Sender ID complete and submit the Sender ID Pre-Registration form in order to request the use of an Alphanumeric Sender ID. Dedicated Virtual Numbers Virtual numbers can be used to automatically unsubscribe recipients out of your lists. This makes it easy to manage lists and be compliant with SPAM standards. Selecting a virtual number adds a suggested STOP command to your message. You can also receive direct replies to your campaign that appear next to your campaign and can be exported. Responses are displayed in your reports and inbox. Viewing Replies and Processing Opt-Outs Message replies can be seen in your activity screen, SMS send reports and can also be forwarded to email. Opt-outs can be processed via STOP reply to virtual numbers or click on unsubscribe link in message if using a Custom Sender ID. One SMS is 160 characters but you can enter up to 1224. If your message is over 160 characters in length you will be charged for 2 SMS sends. Spaces are counted as 1 character and returns are counted as 2 characters. For more information regarding character length and costs, please see: How many characters can I have in my text message? Add custom variables and personalise your message. Click 'FirstName' to insert a recipient's first name into the message. Or select 'LastName', or another custom variable. When using any of these, the character count total will be an estimate only. Make sure you allow enough characters to cater for the longest variable, such as the longest name in your recipient list, otherwise a message may be charged as two sent messages. You can add up to 10 custom fields in the Custom Fields section of your list. Track Links You can track links in your message. The track link service will shorten a URL and add a unique ID that when clicked will be visible in your SMS report. Just click SAVE to add it to the drop down menu. To delete a template, just select it from the drop down and click the DELETE button. Scheduling Options Schedule for future If you want to send at a future date and time select Yes from the scheduling drop down. Time zone will be according to your account settings. When sending internationally, be sure to check the time zone in each country. It is wise to segment your recipients by time zone to ensure sending doesn't occur at very late hours. Split sending You can split large sends into separate chunks over time. This can help alleviate pressure on call centre operators during a large campaign. Pending Message Expiry If a recipient is unable to receive your message for whatever reason. You can set this to stop trying to send the message after a given period of time. This is set to 4 hours by default. This feature is carrier dependent and may not work for all carriers. For more information on pending messages see: What does a message with a pending status mean? Review & Send You will see a cost estimate once your message is setup, click Show Details to review a full breakdown of your costs. This will also let you know if any messages are over the character count when using the custom variables or any international destinations you are sending to. Click NEXT to move to the sending confirmation screen. After reviewing your message you will now be able to send your message. If you do not have enough credit to send the message you will need to Add credit. This button can also be found in the top right of your screen. Confirm Send Now that you have credit you can send messages anytime by hitting the SEND/SCHEDULE button. Once sent you will be redirected to your activity screen where you will see the status of your message.
